MXDA (meta-xylenediamine) is an aliphatic diamine with an aromatic ring, sometimes called an aralifatic amine. Current applications are as a raw material for polyamide (Nylon) and various chemical intermediates, as well as an epoxy curing agent that works at low temperature. At present,
we have two plants in Japan, capable of producing around 60 million pounds of MXDA annually.
1,3-BAC (1,3 bis-aminomethyl cyclohexane) is a highly-reactive cycloaliphatic diamine. 1,3−BAC has been used as an intermediate for a variety of chemicals, as well as an epoxy curing agent where color stability, fast ambient cure and good chemical resistance are required.
Current production capacity is well over 10 million pounds annually, and the plant is readily expandable to meet demand.
Gaskamine 240, a new amine based on MGC’s own, patented technology, features well−balanced properties as an epoxy curing agent in coatings and adhesives applications. Its chief advantage is a very low viscosity that allows low−cost formulations based on high filler levels.
The product has potential for a wide variety of applications, including high−gloss topcoat, self−leveling flooring, adhesives and anti−corrosive and high−build coatings. Additional product attributes include long pot life, fast film drying, excellent adhesion to substrates, and good solvent and chemical resistance.
Gaskamine 328, a reaction product of MXDA (meta-xylenediamine) and epichlorohydrin, is a unique polyamine. G−328 has been used worldwide for a variety of chemical products as well as for epoxy hardener applications.
As a hardener, its distinguishing characteristic is rapid cure at low temperatures, with additional features of good adhesion to wet surfaces, and good resistance to water and chemicals.
TETRAD®-X is a highly−reactive, tetra−functional, amine−based epoxy resin with very low viscosity made from MXDA. TETRAD−X can be used to improve cross−link densities for adhesives, composites and chemical resistant coatings.
TETRAD®-C is a highly−reactive, tetra−functional, amine−based epoxy resin with very low viscosity made from 1,3BAC. TETRAD−C can be used to improve cross−link densities for adhesives, composites and chemical resistant coatings.
