Mesitylene (1,3,5-trimethylbenzene) is an extract from our C9 feedstock stream. Mesitylene content, typically small in refinery oil, is comparatively rich in our catalytically−processed stream.

AR is a uniquely−synthesized mesophase pitch, produced by catalytic synthesis from naphthalene. Unlike competing products that use petroleum residue or coal tar as a feedstock, MGC uses a monomer − resulting in a consistent quality mesophase pitch. Surprisingly, the produced AR shows a very low softening point and low viscosity in the molten stage, while retaining a high coking value (and 100% mesophase).
